The dental clinic is available to participants who need routine teeth cleaning or to be fitted for dentures. Routine oral healthcare helps maintain the participant’s overall health.
All three Bienvivir facilities include a Dementia Care Unit to provide a safe and calming environment for participants with Dementia or Alzheimer’s. The ratio of staff to participants is lower than in the general Day Health Center to maintain a specialized level of care.
Each facility has registered dietitians to develop meal plans catered to each participant’s dietary needs. If a patient has Diabetes, high blood pressure or other health needs, the suggested meal options will reflect the individualized care plan of the participant. Participants can also qualify for meal delivery services. A dietitian is part of each participant’s Interdisciplinary Team.
Each facility has a health clinic with a physician and nurse on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If a participant comes in for general Day Health Center activities and feels ill, they are able to see a medical professional.
Bienvivir’s onsite pharmacy fills prescriptions and provides over-the-counter medication for participants. All participants are enrolled in Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage.
Each participant is assigned a social worker who is available to answer questions and conduct home visits. During home visits the social worker can provide instructions about reducing fall hazards and communicate with the family to ensure all parties are informed and understand medication adherence and changes in health or mental capacity. The social worker also serves as a point of contact for the participant to communicate with about delicate topics including end of life choices and care.
Bienvivir staffs many specialists including audiologists and podiatrists. If a participant needs to see a specialist not staffed by Bienvivir, the participant will be referred to the specialist in Bienvivir’s provider network.
